Autumnal Wreaths

As the clocks roll back and the nights start drawing in it might be time to start thinking about dressing your front door.

I'm not suggesting you go all out head to toe halloween and pumpkins, but a beautiful, hand made Autumnal wreath, hung on your door will add a bit of warmth and character and offer a nod to the season.

Now, of course you could go out and buy a ready made one, but what fun is that. Why not get creative and make your own.

  • Start off with a wreath frame. This can be any style you like - willow, vine, metal or perhaps consider using oasis if you wish to use fresh flowers. These can be sourced form a wide variety of places including, Dunelm, Garden Trading, Hobby craft or perhaps even your local Garden Centre.

  • Select a nice variety of flowers and leaves, making sure to consider varying height, colour and size. For dried flowers, I like to use Pampas grass, Cotton Rabbit Tail and Eucalyptus. You could even add dried hydrangea, feathers or for a halloween touch, mini pumpkins can be wired in.

  • Lay your chosen flowers around the frame, securing them in place with floristry wire.

  • Finish with a beautifully tied bow and place on your front door.

  • Stand back and admire your handy work!
